From Your Chair’s Corner
If you stayed home October 20th, you missed a great tour.Check out the
details and photos on our website.
Report on the Member Value Leadership Summit (10/16 to 10/18): I
represented our section at this unique ASQ national event with about 200
others. The purpose of the event was to consider the Future of ASQ and the
value to its members. The discussion was centered on what our members’ needs
are today and in the future. We also discussed the value ASQ and sections can
provide to members. The conclusion we came to was that our main value is
education and training followed closely by networking. We discussed why so few
members attend section meetings and what can be done to improve attendance. The
discussion method we used was the World Café (all the tables had white paper
table cloths and we wrote on them changing tables to enhance discussion). I
have a detailed article on this event that I would be glad to share - just send
me an email requesting it. I am very interested in knowing how our section can
provide more value to its members. Are you a member of a Division and feel they
bring additional value to you? Did you know your Regular ASQ membership
includes membership in one of the 27 Divisions and you may join others? If you
have not come to a meeting for a while, let me know why. I welcome your
comments, suggestions, and ideas.
Monthly Networking session: Did you meet someone new at the September or
October meetings? Were you one of the prize winners? If you have job
opportunities, this is a great time to meet qualified candidates so bring those
job descriptions with you to the November meeting. If you are looking for a new
opportunity, be sure to bring your resume/business cards with you.
What’s coming up in November? 17th: Lean Supply Chain and Six Sigma
Journey information. Book your spot early by going to our website. If you have
questions or comments, please email me at ann.warmuth@staples.com or call at
