Leadership Volunteers
Membership Chair

Hello, I’m Jim Tereshko, the section Membership Chair for 2005-2006. This is my first year as a section volunteer and it’s been fun to get to know more of our members. I have been a member of ASQ since 2000 and have had “Quality” in my job title for the past 12 years. During that time I have implemented and maintained ISO 9000 systems at three different companies and directed the quality function at two. I am passionate about process improvement and have encouraged the use of lean manufacturing techniques to drive process improvement and cost reduction. I am a Six Sigma Green Belt.

Most of my 30+ years of experience in high tech was spent predominantly at Digital Equipment where I managed product assurance engineering, a software engineering group, and quality for a wafer fab. I am currently a Quality Systems and Analysis Manager at Bose Corporation in Framingham.

My education includes a BSEE from Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn and an MBA from Babson College. I live in Berlin MA with my wife Sue and we have two grown sons who are proudly serving our country as officers in the US Navy. Outside of work I tutor high school students for the Math SAT and am a local liaison to area high schools for the US Naval Academy.

Newsletter Chair

My name is Amy Powers and I am the section Newsletter Chair for 2005-2006. I have only been with ASQ for couple of years now and this is my first time as a section volunteer. I enjoy my responsibilities as a newsletter editor. In this position I have learned a lot about ASQ and how it works, as well as giving me the opportunity of getting to know the wonderful group of people that lead this section and the members that belong to it. It is gratifying to be a part of an organization that has the same quality passion that I have. The networking and the sharing of the victories and defeats in the quality field has been a great learning for me.

My obsession for quality began when I was first introduced to the ISO 9001 quality standard. I am proud to currently be working at Gentex Optics (Essilor), one of the leading manufacturers of polycarbonate eyewear, for ten years. I work in the QA Department and my position is ISO Internal Lead Auditor for 9001 and the 14001 environmental standard. Along with my auditor responsibilities, I am currently on the team of a company wide process mapping project that will help us to improve on our processes. I belong to the safety committee and I hope to be part of the team for the plant wide implementation and registration to the OSAS 18001 safety standard. Top management’s goal is have this system in place by the end of 2006.

I am affectionately called “ISO geek” by my co-workers because I live, breathe and eat up any type of standard or specification. I have even been known to do root cause analysis and fish bone diagrams to solve problems outside the work place. I’m told it’s a sickness!
